embossed on a leather bound book
the title of my life shimmers in silver.
parchment inscribed with red lexis’,
an index that outlines my passing years,
traces of fading chapters
transporting from one leaf to the next
with left over emotions – unresolved.
some taunt me of past errs and exploitations,
while others I find solace in my every being.
coming to the end of a folio,
I turn to find no words inscribed -
for I know not of my destination;
but find that I now fade into the book
within the misty aura of the unknown.
the candle wax has been lit,
the leather straps entwined
encountering only whispers
of another short-lived farewell.
